Recycling Process

QUINN glass recycling - clear culletRecycled Glass is known as cullet. The simple process of   making our waste glass available for collection through bottle banks etc is where the process of recycling glass begins.

This glass, be it a bottle or a jar, is then taken to a glass treatment plant where it is crushed and all the various non-glass materials, caps, labels etc are removed. Technology to separate mixed coloured glass is now widely available and along with the other checks ensures the glass container sites get a good quality raw material.

The manufacturing process in the glass plant then sees the cullet mixed with the various other raw materials and melted in the furnace. Drawing the glass from the furnace the bottle making machines form the new containers.

The filler in turn fills the glass and distributes it through the various channels to ultimately arrive at the end consumer. The process can then begin once again, and again and again and again.................................... An infinite number of recycles and no loss of quality!
